Winter Driving Tips

Updated: Nov 25, 2019

Bad winter weather is a factor in nearly half a million crashes every year! We want you to be prepared for these road conditions. Here are a few tips for you to make sure you and your family will stay safe this winter...

1.) STAY HOME.

If you are able to stay at home during bad weather conditions, then stay home. It is better to avoid taking these risks of driving while the roads are bad.

2.) Accelerate and Decelerate Slowly Be sure to apply the gas very slow to avoid losing traction and sliding. When you are about to stop, take your time to slow down because it takes longer to slow down when you are on icy roads.

3.) Drive Slowly Always have you speed lower than usual to account of the lower traction when you are driving on ice or snow.

4.) Be Prepared Have your vehicle properly checked to make sure it’s good to go in these conditions. Then always have a winter weather car emergency kit that includes: food, water, warm clothes, a flashlight, scraper, and blankets.

Use these tips and stay safe driving! 😊
